Rapid was established in Bredaryd, Sweden, in 1942. Local plastics molders were asking the company to develop a machine for grinding up plastic waste, which was done in close cooperation with them.
After that, there was no stopping the success in this size reduction of plastic field, and today the plant is totally dedicated to manufacturing an extensive range of granulators for in-plant recycling of plastic waste.
Rapid is at the forefront of granulator technology. The business strategy of being the preferred supplier to the plastics industry can only be maintained by dedicated application knowledge delivering the highest standards of solutions.
Attempts made to copy the design of Rapid's granulators have met little or no success. Hence the expression applied to Rapid granulators:

The Rapid RG Series is specifically designed for beside-the-press recycling of hard and brittle materials. The ultra-slow rotor speed and screenless operation provide low noise level and very low dust level even with the most filled and brittle materials.
The Rapid RG Series can also be equipped with the patented Integrated Metal Detection technology (IMD). IMD virtually eliminates the risk of damage to the machine from metal fragments that may have entered the material undetected.
Slow speed granulation. The ultra-slow rotor speed concept is ideal for granulating glass fiber filled, brittle and/or thick walled sprues and components.
Easy cleaning. Easy and direct access to rotor and cutter house simplifies cleaning when changing color and material.
Turnable wear parts. Knives, scrapers and crusher blades are turnable providing maximum lifetime and longer durability.
Heavy duty transmission. Gear box transmission providing high granulation force with low energy consumption. Easy to release coupling between gear box and rotor shaft simplifies rotation of rotor when cleaning or servicing.
Twin model. For very large sprues or products such as car bumpers etc. the TWIN model, RG4 TWIN, is suitable. Equipped with double rotor shafts.

The Rapid 150 Series of low speed granulators is intended primarily for beside-the-press injection molding applications. Immediate in-line recycling of sprues and rejects maintains product quality and eliminates the distribution and storage of waste and regrind.
No matter how your production machines are configured, we have the right beside-the-press or under-the-press models for your kind of production.
Double scissors cutting action. Provides efficient, enegry saving, cutting of the plastics with a minimum of dust and fines.
Cassette knife system. No re-sharpening! No re-adjustments! Just remove the worn knifes and replace them with new ones. The knife clearance between rotating- and stator knife will automatically be correct!
Heavy duty rotor. The rotor with its hardened rotor end discs and twin bearings makes a solid core for efficient granulation of even the toughest materials.
Reversible, hardened screen. Rapid hardened screens give prolonged lifetime. The possibility to turn it around gives further longevity.
Low noise level. Depending on type of granulation (material, waste, feed rate, temperature etc.) the sound pressure level is as low as 72–83 dB(A).
